February 1, 2008: No Senate Today

In my part of the country (St. Louis) many things are canceled because of snow. As for why there is no meeting of the Senate today, I'm not sure. Maybe leaders are exasperated by the lack of agreement on FISA and the economic stimulus package. When the U.S. Senate is unable to vote up or down on straightforward, germane amendments to an important bill (e.g. FISA), it might as well take some time off to regroup.

Only two votes this week in the Senate. Both unsuccessful cloture attempts. I saw something this week that I never thought I'd see — a bill (FISA) getting filibustered by both parties.
